Flora•Viv Fe is a superior quality, concentrated, bio-available, timed release iron supplement for freshwater planted aquariums. It is designed to begin releasing iron immediately and over days of time. As biological and photolytic reactions occur, Flora•Viv Fe dissociates to provide multivalent iron as iron II and iron III. Iron deficiency in plants is often seen as yellowing leaves, particularly starting at the tips, and leaves becoming transparent and eventually disintegrating. Other deficiencies can cause similar symptoms, such as deficiencies in nitrogen, potassium, and magnesium. It is therefore recommended that the hobbyist use Flora•Viv first, to provide a wide range of plant nutrients, and then use then use this product to supplement iron as necessary. Flora•Viv products contain no dangerous polycycloglutaracetal or glutaraldehyde.
Use in aquarium keeping.
Do not overdose this product! Simultaneous use of Bacter•Gen F to establish and sustain growth of proper microorganisms and recycle aquarium nutrients will greatly benefit all plants and the aquarium ecosystem. The use of Flora•Viv Prolifera will provide additional carbon for heavily planted aquariums. Growth of all photosynthetic organisms also requires strong lighting of proper spectrum. Consult your lighting supplier for assistance in the proper type of light, and photo periods for the plants that you are growing. Be sure to ask lots of questions to get the very best lighting system for your aquarium.
Directions and protocol.
Shake well prior to use. Add 1 capful (5 ml) per 50 US-gallons (200 L) of aquarium water once a week.
Expert use.
May be added 3 to 4 times per week, as needed to raise the iron concentration, if measuring. Add as required to maintain the concentration between .05 and .10 mg/L. Dosing through use of a drip system is a superior method of addition. Do not mix with buffers or alkalinity supplements prior to addition. See our website for compatibility of supplements. Determine the amount of iron consumption during the time it takes add the entire volume of your drip system. To determine the amount of Flora•Viv Fe to add in milliliters, multiply your tank capacity in gallons by the amount you want to raise it in mg/l (ppm) and by 0.33. (Example: if you have a 100 gallon tank and you want to raise the level by .1 ppm with the entire dose, you would multiply 30 x .1 x 0.33 which equals 1 ml of Flora•Viv Fe or 1/5 of a capful or about 2 threads of the cap).
